Chalan ("we", "us", "our") is a business management platform for independent tradespeople, operated by Alta Soft Tech Inc., based in Alberta, Canada. Questions about this policy: noreply@chalan.io.

2. Information we collect

Account information. Your name, business name, email address, and phone number when you register.

Business records. Financial records, client information, and documents you create or import while using the service. This data belongs to you.

Usage information. Log data, session information, and technical identifiers necessary to operate and secure the service.

3. How we use your information

We use your information exclusively to provide, maintain, and improve the Chalan service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Service providers

We work with carefully selected third-party service providers who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements. These include providers of payment processing, cloud infrastructure, communication delivery, and AI-assisted features. All providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than delivering services to us.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep your session secure and to protect against unauthorized requests. These cookies are required for the service to function and cannot be disabled.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or analytics tools that identify individual users. Your cookie preference is stored locally in your browser.

6. Data security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews are in place. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we commit to notifying you promptly in the event of a breach affecting your personal information.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. On account closure, you may request a full export of your business records at no charge. Personal information is deleted within 90 days of a verified deletion request. Financial records may be retained for up to 7 years where required by applicable law.

8. Your rights

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
